Why Trust Me?

I have been using PayPal and Venmo for a long time, along with several other money transfer platforms. Since I have done it by myself, all you need to do is follow my steps, and you’ll be safe.

You can definitely transfer funds to Venmo from PayPal, but you can’t do it directly. However, I’ve listed three options to do it fast and safely.

Step-By-Step Guide to Send Money From PayPal to Venmo

Option 1: Use the Same App

The most straightforward method of money transfers from PayPal to Venmo is involving apps.

  • Step 1: Open the Venmo account, and link your bank account which will take about 3 days.
  • Step 2: Deposit the money there.

Alternatively,

  • Step 3: Get your recipient to open a PayPal account (this makes the transfers quicker, instead of bank accounts)

That’s it.

This method is best for sending money to another person with a Venmo account from PayPal. It involves no costs and will be instant (if your beneficiary has a PayPal), and 2-3 days (if you do it through Venmo).

Option 2: Send Money to a Common Bank Account

Money transfers with a common bank account are the most popular method.

For this, all you need is a US bank account in the same name as your PayPal and Venmo accounts.

  • Step 1: Connect your checking account to PayPal, and then connect it to Venmo.
  • Step 2: Transfer the money to your bank account from PayPal.
  • Step 3: Log into your Venmo account, and extract the funds out of your checking account.
  • Step 4: Use these funds to spend money using Venmo.

This method is recommendable to transfer friends to yourself and other Venmo accounts, belonging to family and friends. It doesn’t cost you as long as there are no currency conversions and takes 2-3 days.

Option 3: Use a PayPal Card

As you know, PayPal has its PayPal Mastercard debit card, and money transfers to Venmo can be done using this. However, this method is best if you’re transferring money to your own Venmo account.

  • Step 1: Get your PayPal debit card.
  • Step 2: Link your PayPal card to Venmo by selecting settings at “Banks and Cards” and “Add Debit or Credit Card”.
  • Step 3: Ensure to use the PayPal card when making payments with Venmo, so that the payment will come out of your PayPal funds.

This method is the best for transfers between your own Venmo and PayPal accounts and doesn’t cost you ordinary transfers, although the complete transfer process will take 7-10 business days.
